THREE-BUCK-AND-THIRTY-NINE-CENT CHUCK

At Trader Joe's in Ohio, Two-Buck Chuck costs $3.39. My cashier told me that Ohio has the most expensive Two-Buck Chuck in the country. Could this be true? Even if it isn't, I make a sad little face every time I see that $3.39 price tag.

At least I don't live in Britain, I guess. Oh, wait...

Really, has nobody in the marketing department any reservations about the resonances of "chuck" in the name of an alcoholic beverage?

[maybe this is dialect thing. is "upchuck" strictly southern?]

No, I think "chuck" has all sorts of negative connotations, but in TJ's defense, their marketing department never uses the term -- it's only ever "Charles Shaw." And yet, in California at least, the slang term has stuck.

It costs $1.40 per bottle to import it from exotic California.
